One of Japan's three great float festivals (with Kyoto Gion Matsuri and Takayama Matsuri) and UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage (2016). The highlight is kodomo kabuki — boys aged 5-12 performing full kabuki plays on elaborately decorated floats, centered on Nagahama Hachimangu shrine.
