Kintaikyo Bridge Festival

Held every April 29 (Showa Day) at the iconic five-arched Kintai Bridge in Iwakuni. The highlight is a daimyo procession reenacting the sankin-kotai departure of the local lord, with participants in Edo-period costume crossing the bridge, followed by matchlock-gun demonstrations and taiko drumming. Late cherry blossoms often still line the Nishiki River.
