The Katsushika ward of Tokyo celebrates irises annually at Mizumoto Koen (14,000 irises) and the historic Horikiri Shobuen garden (6,000 irises). The latter dates from the Edo period and is the country's first tourist iris garden, frequently depicted in Japanese woodblock prints.
