Zao Onsen's opening is set by snowfall, not by the calendar, so a future season has no exact date. The resort typically opens a few slopes in the first week of December and holds its full opening around mid-December (2025-26: partial 6 Dec, full 13 Dec). Separately, the famous juhyo snow monsters do not form until roughly late January to early March, so an early-December visit will not see them.
