A 12km granite gorge along the upper Meguro River, a Shimanto River tributary, in Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park, famous for smooth, slide-like eroded granite riverbeds and clear emerald-green pools. Its signature feature is Yukiwa-no-taki, an 80m waterfall sliding down a single granite slab, ranked among Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls; the Mannen Bridge marks the gorge entrance near the visitor center.
How to get there
No public transit to the gorge, car required. ~20-35 min from Matsumaru Station via Rte 381 (narrow, some unguarded sections); ~30 min from Uwajima-Asahi IC; ~90 min from Matsuyama. Reaching the waterfall is a ~1hr mountain walk from the trailhead.
