Yakuo-ji Temple (Hiwasa)

Temple 23 of the Shikoku 88-temple pilgrimage, built on a steep hillside in the fishing town of Hiwasa. A staircase of 'yakuyoke' (misfortune-warding) steps climbs to a vermillion pagoda with sweeping views over Hiwasa Bay, its castle-topped headland, and the Pacific.
