Kagawa · Shikoku
A kilometer-long tidal beach in Mitoyo famed for its 'mirror' effect: when low tide coincides with sunset and the evening wind stills (a local phenomenon called seto-no-yunagi), the wet sand reflects the sky so precisely it draws comparisons to Bolivia's Uyuni salt flats. It has been voted one of Japan's best sunset spots.
