Iwama Chinkabashi (Iwama Submersible Bridge)

岩間沈下橋

Kochi · Shikoku

Built in 1966, this 120-meter railing-less 'submersible' bridge crosses the Shimanto River at a wide, tranquil bend near Ekawasaki and is the finish line for many canoe tours.

Why it's hidden

Overshadowed by the more famous Sada bridge downstream, Iwama draws photographers and paddlers rather than tour buses.
