Les Archives du Coeur

心臓音のアーカイブ

Kagawa · Shikoku

A seaside installation by French artist Christian Boltanski on Teshima's Karato coast that permanently archives recordings of visitors' heartbeats gathered from around the world, played back with a pulsing light in a darkened listening room. Visitors may record their own heartbeat for an added fee to add it to the collection.

Why we picked it

Set apart on the quiet Karato shore with no parking, this meditative sound-and-light work is one of the Setouchi art scene's most personal and least crowded stops.
