Makishi Public Market is Naha's covered public market, free to enter and open 8:00 to 22:00, where fishmongers on the ground floor will cook what you buy for you to eat upstairs. It rests on the fourth Sunday of most months — though not in December — and over New Year, Lunar New Year and Old Obon, so the rest day is worth checking against your date. The building reopened in 2023 after a full rebuild.
