Iya no Kazurabashi (Vine Bridge)
祖谷のかずら橋Tokushima · Shikoku
Iya no Kazurabashi is a suspension bridge woven from wild shirakuchi mountain vine that spans 45 meters across the Iya River, 14 meters above the water. One of only three surviving vine bridges in the remote Iya Valley, it is a nationally designated Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property and is rebuilt from fresh vine every three years.
