Yonaha Maehama Beach runs about seven kilometres along the coast of Miyakojima, a continuous strip of white sand with shallow, clear water. Entry is free and the beach is open at all hours, but there is no rail on the island: Miyako Airport is about 15 minutes away by car, and a car or local bus is needed to reach it. Typhoon season runs roughly June to October, and a passing storm can cancel ferries, flights and all marine activity across the islands at a day's notice, so check the forecast before you rely on this stop.
