Kagawa · Shikoku
Takamatsu Castle, also called Tamamo Castle, was built in 1590 and is one of the few castles in Japan whose moat is filled with seawater drawn from the harbour beside it. The keep no longer stands — what survives is its stone base, the remaining turrets and the surrounding Tamamo Park, which costs ¥200 and opens 7:00 AM–5:00 PM.
Usual hours — confirm with the official site for holidays + seasonal closures.
