Shimashi Beach

A small, secluded pocket beach on the east coast of Kudaka Island, framed by ryukyu limestone and reef. It is one of several unspoiled shores strung along the island's eastern shoreline where swimming is not permitted. Typhoon season runs roughly June to October, and a passing storm can cancel ferries, flights and all marine activity across the islands at a day's notice — check the forecast before you rely on this stop.
