Toguchi no Hama Beach

渡口の浜

Okinawa

An approximately 800m arc of fine white sand on Irabu Island's southwest coast; the water is exceptionally clear turquoise-to-emerald, and because no coral reef fringes the beach there's no coral or fish debris washing ashore, keeping the sand unusually pristine. Two access points each have parking, restrooms, showers, and a food stand. Typhoon season runs roughly June to October, and a passing storm can cancel ferries, flights and all marine activity across the islands at a day's notice — check the forecast before you rely on this stop.

Why we picked it

Ranked one of the top beaches in the Miyako Islands but consistently overshadowed by Yonaha Maehama on the main island since it requires crossing Irabu Ohashi Bridge.
