The easternmost point of Shikoku, a rugged headland in Anan topped by a lighthouse built in 1924, within Muroto-Anan Kaigan Quasi-National Park. On clear winter mornings the sunrise can appear distorted into an omega shape, a phenomenon locally called a 'Daruma sunrise,' and the beach just north of the cape is a designated loggerhead turtle nesting site.
