The Kochi Prefectural Museum of History stands on Mount Oko in Nankoku city, inside the earthworks of Oko Castle. One gallery is devoted to the Chosokabe clan, who ruled Tosa from this castle, and another traces the prefecture's history and daily life from prehistory to the present. The surrounding castle site is a National Historic Site with walking paths over the ramparts and baileys.
