Piza Beach

Piza Beach

ピザ浜

Okinawa

A calm, shallow beach on the south side of Kudaka Island a short walk from the village, with a shallow reef lagoon and views back toward the Okinawa mainland. Swimming is prohibited here as on the island's other sacred shores, but it is a peaceful spot to pause. Typhoon season runs roughly June to October, and a passing storm can cancel ferries, flights and all marine activity across the islands at a day's notice — check the forecast before you rely on this stop.

Why we picked it

Overshadowed by the island's only swimmable beach nearby, this quiet shore near the village is largely overlooked by visitors.

Admission
Free — an open beach on the sacred island of Kudakajima. No admission, but the east-coast beaches (Piza, Ishiki, Uparma) are sacred ground: swimming is not permitted and off-limits areas must be respected. Only Meegi Beach is for swimming.
