A crescent sand beach in Hiwasa where loggerhead sea turtles come ashore to lay eggs from May to August, one of only a handful of mainland Japan nesting beaches designated a Prefectural Natural Monument. The adjacent Hiwasa Chelonian Museum Caretta studies and protects the nesting turtles.
