Maryudo Falls

マリュドゥの滝

Okinawa

Weather-dependent — the Urauchi River boat is cancellation-prone, so confirm sailings before you travel. A tiered waterfall plunging into an emerald jungle pool deep in Iriomote's interior, reached only by river boat plus a 30-minute forest walk — one of Japan's 100 Famous Waterfalls.

Why it's hidden

Hidden in roadless jungle, reachable only on foot.

Note

  • The falls themselves are open jungle with no gate — the day lines describe the Urauchi River sightseeing boat, which is the only practical access and the real constraint on a visit.
  • Allow roughly 3 to 4 hours for the round trip: about 30 minutes upriver by boat, then a 30-minute forest walk each way.
  • Sailings are weather-dependent and are cancelled in high water or heavy rain.
